Contra Costa Sheriff’s Deputies arrest suspect with $1.3 million warrant in Crocket

May 11, 2016 By Publisher Leave a Comment

A suspect with a $1.3 million warrant for charges that included trying to run down several Deputy Sheriffs was apprehended on Wednesday.

43-year-old Bryan Hill was located in a residence in Crockett on May 4, 2016 at about 4:18 PM. As Deputies surrounded the home, Hill ran into a vehicle and nearly hit several Deputies as he fled. Hill’s car became disabled after hitting a patrol car. He then took off on foot.

A police K-9 was deployed and later caught Hill, who was taken into custody by Deputies. Two Deputies were treated at the hospital for injuries sustained during the arrest.

Hill is currently being held at the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $1.3 million bail. His charges include stolen vehicle, felony evasion, assault with a deadly weapon and obstructing/resisting an executive officer.

On April 8, 2016, Hill was involved in a stolen vehicle incident, where he later got into another car and tried to rundown several officers in the Tara Hills area. The vehicle was later found in Oakland, but Hill remained outstanding until his arrest on May 4.

The Office of the Sheriff Marine Services Unit on Saturday morning, April 30, located a missing jet-skier on Browns Island near Pittsburg. He had been overdue for some time. Because of 5-6 foot swells, 40 mile per hour wind gusts and shallow waters, it was difficult for any vessel to get to the boater.

Fortunately, a work boat from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was nearby and was able to get to the boater. The boater and his vessel were taken back to shore. Other than being cold, he did not need any medical attention.

Detectives from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Investigation Division are continuing to investigate the killing of 47-year-old Kimberly Hoglund of East Richmond Heights.

On Wednesday, April 13, 2016, it was brought to the attention of the Office of the Sheriff that Hoglund was missing and that foul play may be involved. Detectives served a search warrant on a home in East Richmond Heights and discovered a possible crime scene, but did not locate Hoglund. The next morning, Detectives detained a suspect, who was later arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. 37-year-old Dylan Reese of El Sobrante is being held on homicide and assault with a deadly weapon charges; his bail is set at $1.3 million.

Detectives and Crime Lab personnel searched a home on Appian Way in El Sobrante in an effort to locate Hoglund. On Tuesday, the body of Hoglund was found in a shallow grave on the property. Detectives say Hoglund was last seen on March 28, 2016 and likely died shortly thereafter. Her family filed a missing persons report on her on April 12, 2016.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office yesterday filed formal homicide charges against Reese and a second suspect, 43-year-old Andre Villedrouin of Richmond, who remains outstanding.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Villedrouin is asked to contact the Office of the Sheriff at (925) 646-2441. The Investigations Division can be reached at (925) 313-2600. County Sheriff to hold National Prescription Drug TAKE BACK Day, Saturday

April 29, 2016 By Publisher Leave a Comment

On Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 10 AM to 2 PM, the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its 11th opportunity in six years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal at the following sites. The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

DROP OFF LOCATIONS:

-Office of the Sheriff Muir Station, 1980 Muir Road, Martinez (Field Operations Building)

-Office of the Sheriff Bay Station, 5555 Giant Highway, Richmond (West County Detention Facility)

-Danville Police Department, 510 La Gonda Way, Danville

-Lafayette Police Department, 3675 Mt. Diablo Way, Suite 130, Lafayette

-Oakley Police Department, 3231 Main Street, Oakley

-Orinda Police Department, 22 Orinda Way, Orinda

Last September, Americans turned in over 702,000 pounds of prescription drugs at over 5,000 sites operated by the DEA and more than 3,800 of its state and local law enforcement partners. When those results are combined with what was collected in its ten previous Take Back events, DEA and its partners have taken in over 5.5 million pounds—more than 2,750 tons—of pills.

This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of unused medicines—flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash—both pose potential safety and health hazards.

For more information about the disposal of prescription drugs or about the April 30, 2016 Take Back Day event, go to the DEA Office of Diversion Control website at: www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov.

Investigators from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff and the D.A.’s Office are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred Friday morning per the county-wide officer involved protocol.

The suspect who barricaded himself in a house in Byron has been identified as 49-year-old Michael Mallett of Byron.

On Thursday at about 10:06 PM, Deputy Sheriffs went to a home on the 2700 block of Hoffman Lane in Byron to serve an arrest warrant. The $1.15 million dollar arrest warrant was for a 49-year-old man for 12 counts of child molestation. The investigating agency was the Office of the Sheriff.

Deputies made contact with the suspect, who walked out of the residence with a firearm. He refused to comply with the Deputies and went back into the home and barricaded himself. Deputies were able to evacuate other occupants in the home. Negotiators arrived on scene and began to communicate with him. Negotiations were sporadic but the suspect continually talked about not surrendering, not putting his gun down and harming himself.

The Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was called out at this morning at 3 AM as negotiations continued. Numerous announcements were made into the house for the man to surrender. At about 9:30 AM, chemical agents were deployed into the home. The suspect came out of a window armed with a handgun. He did not comply with commands to drop the weapon. He was shot when he raised the gun at Deputies. Deputies administered life-saving measures. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the fire department. The officer involved fatal incident protocol was invoked.

The Office of the Sheriff Investigation Division would like to hear from anyone with any information this incident. Detectives can be reached at (925) 313-2600. For any tips, please email: tips@so.cccounty.us or call (866) 846-3592 to leave an anonymous voice message.
